Go Through The Useful Nikon 50mm 1.8 Assessment And Discover Why This Lens Is Such A Pleasure To Use
No Nikon 50mm 1.8 review would be complete without referring to the extremely clear pictures that this lens produces, all for a very economical cost.
The focal length of 50mm is supposedly the closest in range and depth to what the human eye sees, and as such it has experienced many years in the spotlight as a great general purpose lens, doubling as a 75mm portraiture lens on an APS-C DSLR body.
Along with great picture quality and reasonable price, this lens is very light weight and small enough that it will just fit in your jeans, making it a great carry around lens for no further effort.
Optically, the Nikon 50mm 1.8 lens includes 6 elements organized in 5 groups (with the aperture mechanism having 7 diaphragm blades). The minimum range of focusing is 0.45m and the filter dimension is 52mm.
As was mentioned previously, this lens is quite small at just 64x39mm and light at only 155g.
You may possibly think that since this lens is so inexpensive, that its build feature must be inferior as well. However, the build quality of this lens is quite reliable with a combination of metal and polycarbonate as the main elements.
The relatively little rubber focus ring has a really smooth focus and the front element does not rotate with a polarizer built in so this is another good thing too - we all know how irritating a rotating front element with a polarizer is.
Overall the Nikon 50mm 1.8 does not have the same reputation that a lot of the flagship Nikon lenses do, but it is yet a quiet and very competent performer in its own way.
It does not fall down badly in any particular area, maybe the only bad point could be that it is soft on the borders wide open and perhaps contains a slight contrast deficiency too.
Of course for the price, these minor details can easily be overlooked when buying this excellent Nikkor 50mm 1.8.
